About Us

The National Association of School Nurses (NASN) and the American Dental Association (ADA) have teamed up to support school nurses to promote awareness of oral health in schools. The 2011 campaign, Empowering School Nurses to Change Oral Health Perceptions, was funded by a grant to NASN from the DentaQuest Foundation. The goals of the campaign were to:

  • Support school nurses in their efforts to keep children healthy and ready to learn
  • Assess the knowledge, perceptions and practices of school nurses related to promoting an awareness of oral health
  • Provide school nurses with relevant oral health resources and messages, while Improving the mechanism through which these are delivered
  • Encourage and improve collaboration between school nurses and oral health professionals in states and communities
